Project: Tervasaari PK 7 dismantling - transfer of paper machine from Finland to Sweden
Drying section in a paper machine is a key step in achieving the final moisture content of the paper, up to 10%, depending on the type of paper produced. Drying paper sheets with cylinders consumes huge layers of hot air. In paper machines, which produce thin paper or tissue paper are most commonly used steam-heated drying Yankee cylinders (see pictures of the removal of such cylinder in our photo gallery). Drying the whole paper sheet is done just in one turn of the cylinder! Almost all the heat, that is used for drying, accumulates in the exhaust air in the hood. The hood of the drying cylinder not only protects the surrounds from the hot air, but also helps to recover the heat for reuse.
